Position Summary:
St. Mark is a Catholic school in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Middle School ELA Teacher. St. Mark Catholic School is committed to educating the whole child academically, spiritually, and physically. St. Mark Catholic is a PreK 4 – 8th grade, coeducational day school with over 500 students. We welcome students of all faiths who would like to be a part of our school family.
Key responsibilities:
- Foster a Catholic culture in your work with students, colleagues, administration, and parents.
- Planning and presenting engaging lessons to facilitate students' understanding and application of ELA concepts.
- Preparing and distributing learning material such as notes, assignments, and quizzes.
- Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
- Maintaining a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
- Documenting and reporting on students' progress including grading assignments, quizzes and tests in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with administrator and colleagues in planning and facilitating middle school activities and events.
- Attending meetings with parents and staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum level of Education: College Degree
- Minimum amount of Work Experience: 1-3 years preferred
- Area of related work experience: ELA experience
- Applicants should hold a North Carolina teaching certificate in Language Arts, grades 6-8.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church who have prior teaching experience in a Catholic school setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a differentiated instructional environment that incorporates a wide range of instructional strategies, including cooperative and project based learning, independent and small group activities with hands-on learning experiences.
