The Church in Africa is young, energetic, and growing. With this growth comes new challenges and increased pastoral needs – more priests and consecrated religious to celebrate the sacraments and provide religious education, lay leaders and catechists to strengthen the faith in families and young people, and peacebuilders to bring together Church and civic leaders in a spirit of cooperation as they work to overcome conflicts, to name just a few.
The Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa supports African Church leaders by funding programs that meet local pastoral needs. Through this special collection, taken up in many dioceses during August, Catholics in the United States help the Church in Africa share the Gospel through evangelization, catechesis, formation of priests and religious sisters, and mass media while also building peace and reconciliation between neighbors.
Please prayerfully consider making a gift to the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa at Mass or through your parish e-offertory program. #iGiveCatholicTogether also accepts donations for the Solidarity Fund.
