Position Summary:
St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Apex, NC is seeking a Finance Assistant. This position is year round and on-site in the parish offices. The role will work in partnership with the Fiscal Analyst to coordinate the business aspects of the Parish, to include matters such as accounts payable, credit card processing, general ledger entry and reconciliation.
Position will start 15 hours per week with anticipation to expand in hours, duties and scope over the coming months/years as Parish grows to potential full-time employment.
Key responsibilities:
- Account Payable management under direction of Fiscal Analyst.
- Credit Card reconciliation for Parish staff.
- Coordinating with Count Team and handling bank deposits.
- Work in partnership with the Pastor, Fiscal Analyst, Parish Administrator and Parish Finance Council on all operational and strategic issues as they arise.
- Assist in long-term, capital and operating budgetary activities and cost management in alignment with the Parish mission and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with Capital Campaign and Fund-raising activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting or Business.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience in a professional business setting encompassing a majority of the major areas of responsibility listed above.
- Proficiency in MS Office products or Google Suites.
- Strong flexibility and openness to changing work environment.
- A highly organized and detail oriented professional.
- Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
- Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
- Strong experience in bookkeeping, accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in ACS, Quickbooks, ParishSoft, or other accounting software
- Financial management experience and excellent interpersonal skills
- Principles of non-profit financial administration, including budgeting, reporting and fundraising.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
